Here’s a unique concept – endorsing a product from a company without being compensated to do so.
Kiwi Crate is a monthly subscription service that provides STEM-related projects. My wife signed my son up for these and I’ve been doing them with him for nearly two years. It’s a fantastic way to introduce your child to science and math without heavy lifting. Fortunately, you won’t be rebuilding the Eifel Tower out of toothpicks. Each project takes twenty to forty minutes to complete, and when you are finished, you’ve got something really cool to enjoy.
We’ve done light refraction, projection with different colored lights (see video), probability and each time the box comes my son gets excited. We do these on the weekend (after I’ve had several cups of coffee) and he looks forward to it every time the box comes in the mail.
They have projects for different age ranges starting from 0-2 going up to 14 years old. We started at the 3-4 level and it’s paid fantastic dividends. These projects are also simple enough to explain how they work without the need for a PhD, which is refreshing.
This is also a good way to encourage curiosity and your son also practices small-motor skills.
Below are some pictures and a video from a project we did last Autumn. I hope you’ll give it a try.
